Research in Simulation and Experience
In many ways the education and practice of architecture are in themselves simulations, simulating or representing an object to be realized at a later date. The development of digital technology has allowed this process to become more fluid and in many ways call into question much of what we have previously understood about the formulation of architecture. The projects herein take into account ideas of simulation and explore their limitations. The T.O.I.S. project explores the specific behaviors of certain materials to simulate the behavior of structures under static and dynamic loads. Conversely, the Digital Kennedy and ArchInSite projects explore the limitations of digital technology as studies in immersive and augmented environments respectively.
